I have been using the iPhone 16e for a month now. Here is a summary of my impressions during this time.
Rechargeable batteries last longer
The rechargeable batteries last as long as the previous reputation.
- Large capacity of rechargeable battery
- Apple’s own communication chip saves power
These two points are said to be the reasons.
The time for the screen to turn off, etc. has not been changed. The maximum charge capacity is limited to 80% to prevent deterioration of the rechargeable battery. Even so, it rarely falls below 30% after a full day of use.
Since the PC is the main device on holidays, the rechargeable battery is even less depleted.
At this pace, a charge every two days should be sufficient.
Camera is beautiful even with a single lens
Many articles say that the camera quality is not good, but I find it beautiful enough.
The bright lens and high sensitivity of the camera make it possible to take snapshots and videos in dark environments, and the HDR seems to work well.
The comparison is iPhone7 plus, so it may be lower than iPhone 16, Pro or ProMax. But it is more than enough for my usage.
Purchase charging and data transfer cables
I bought a short cable with Type-A <-> Type-C and both ends Type-C for transferring photos taken and for charging in case of emergency.
Short cables are more convenient to carry. A cable that is longer than necessary is bulky. A cable that is just long enough to fit in a bag pocket is just right.
Now that I’ve switched from Lightning to Type-C, my Type-C migration plan has moved a step further.
The app is fast and responsive
Every single response is fast and comfortable.
It is no longer necessary to run the app for barcode payment or points in advance. It is enough to launch the app when making a payment.
I haven’t signed up for the Wallet yet, but I will try it soon.
Face ID is convenient, but frontal alignment is a pain
Face ID is responsive and convenient to unlock. Being able to use it even with rough skin on my fingers has reduced stress for me.
Even in the dark at night, the light from the iPhone 16e screen will recognize you when you get close to your face. Recognition is possible even when you wake up at night.
However, while Touch ID allowed unlocking regardless of orientation, Face ID requires the user to face the front. It may not be recognized when the phone is placed next to you while you are eating. Touch ID is more convenient in such cases.
This is probably a matter of getting used to it; after a month, my body knows it’s like that. It can be avoided by using the ring-shaped stand of the case.
Browser continues in Safari
I have also included Chrome, but continue to use Safari.
In Safari, tab groups can be switched by scrolling horizontally at the bottom; in Chrome, tabs are in folders, which makes it difficult to use.
Everyone feels differently, but for me, Safari’s way of managing tab groups suits me better.
Musubi
Since this is a replacement from an antique iPhone 7 plus, I have no complaints.
Those who are concerned about photo and video quality may be dissatisfied, but for me it is sufficient.
Apple Intelligence will be available in April. We are looking forward to seeing if this will increase the value of the iPhone 16e.
