Multilingualized site with Bogo plugin

The Bogo plugin was used to create a multilingual site in Japanese plus English and Chinese.

At any rate, we have completed one round of multilingualization.

How to switch languages

A link to switch languages has been created at the top of the page.

By clicking this link, you can switch to the Japanese, English, or Simplified Chinese site.

The Bogo plugin also comes with a block for the Gutenberg editor, but it seemed to be vertically aligned only and layout changes could not be configured, so I created my own.

Language Switching Mechanism

This language switching is done using the Block Visibility plugin.

  • Reproduce the same content in Japanese, English, and Chinese by arranging blocks of the same content in a vertical block.
  • Japanese is not displayed if the URL contains “/en/” and “/zh/”.
  • English is displayed when the URL contains “/en/” and Chinese is displayed when the URL contains “/zh/”.

for all areas that are not automatically multilingualized.

Also, the header and footer navigation menus are

  • Create navigation menus for each language, each set to display a translated fixed page
  • Set up the navigation menu to appear for each language in the manner described above.

For contact forms, we also created two additional forms for multilingual use.

Confirmation of all operations

Once the above steps were completed on the blog home and individual post templates, I went through the pages and checked for any untranslated locations.

The part displayed in the image is still in Japanese, and the Rinker and SU blog cards are in Japanese, but all text parts have been replaced.

About the future

All that remains is to submit the articles in multiple languages one after the other. We have become familiar with the procedure, so it is less burdensome for shorter articles and text-only articles.

Since it is difficult to update all past articles, I would like to post in multiple languages articles that I will be creating and that I believe will be useful in the past.
